In the Matagalpa and Jinotega region of Nicaragua family Mierisch operates small coffee farms already in its fourth generation. The green coffee of originating from Germany Mierischs are characterized by the highest quality. In recent years, they always achieved best rankings in the international "Cup of Excellence" competitions. For "Cup of Excellence" -best rated coffees pay traders and roasters above average rates: up to $ 50 per pound.
Mierischs attach importance to environmental protection, natural management and adequate remuneration of workers. They also committed to the families of their workers and for the welfare of the local community.
There is an own water treatment plant for the water used in the washing process. Pests are controlled with pheromone traps. For the children of the workers there are regular teaching in a private school on site. For good medical care have all access to a hospital ward. For the spiritual life a church could be established. Local infrastructure has been promoted, and there is a separate small "supermarket" for the workers and their families. In addition, workers receive daily in their breaks freshly prepared food. The Mierischs invest in the education and training of their workers.
